More About the Ambassador
H. E. KAMAL GUBARA, AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE SUDAN TO THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA
H. E. Kamal Gubara is a Sudanese diplomat and current Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan to the Republic of Kenya and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Sudan to the UNON. He Presented to H. E. Uhuru Kenyatta, former President of the Republic of Kenya the letters accrediting him as Ambassador Extra-Ordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Sudan to the Republic of Kenya on August 5, 2022 and to Her Excellency Madam Zainab Hawa Bangura, Under Secretary-General of the UN and Director-General of the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON), the Letter accrediting him as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Sudan to the UNON on 3rd March, 2023.
Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993, he has served in various departments at the Ministry, including departments of the American Affairs, Protocol, Immunities and the European Affairs. Before taking up his duties as Ambassador in Kenya he served as Director of Economic & Technical Cooperation Department, prior to that he was the Director of the International Organizations Department.
During his tour of duty at the Sudan Mission and Embassy in Geneva, Switzerland from 2014 to 2018, H. E. Kamal served as Deputy Head of Mission, Charge de Affaires a. i., and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Sudan to the United Nations Office in Geneva.
On 27thApril, 2018, H. E. Kamal Chaired the Round Table titled “the Economics of Gum Arabic in Africa” organized by UNCTAD, Geneva. On 13th December 2017, he chaired the 9th Multi-year Expert meeting on Commodities and Development, UNCTAD, in Geneva.
H. E. Kamal was a Focal Point of the 17th African Oil, Gas, Minerals, Trade and Finance Conference and Exhibition organized by UNCTAD in Khartoum, Sudan, in November 2015. He was Rapporteur of the Sudanese Malaysian-Economic and Trade Forum, Khartoum, Sudan in 2012.
H. E. Kamal served in the Sudan Embassy in Kuala Lumpur from 2004 to 2011 and as the Director of the Executive Office of the Council for International Peoples Friendship from 2002 to 2004. He also served in the Sudan Embassy in Berlin from 1998 to 2002.
H. E. Kamal Gubara is fluent in English and Arabic (his mother tongue) and holds M. A. in International Studies, from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom in 1997 and B. Sc. in Economics and Political Science, from the University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1989. H. E. Kamal Gubara was born on 28th June, 1966.
